Agree 100% about the lack of friendliness of the Spanish. I have lived in Spain twice for work, and I found them quite unwelcoming and not at all friendly, especially to Latin Americans, with the males being particularly aggressive. There is lots of talk of how warm and friendly the Spanish are, but I did not perceive this at all.

I think Portugal is not unique at all. In most european countries (at least central and eastern for sure), for severe cases You rely on public health care. You would never be able to get it through private one, even if You have a private medical insurance. It is too expensive, simply. Only rich people, I mean CEOs of large companies, would be able to afford a surgery at a private hospital. On the other hand- if You are waiting for an expert's consultation (like dermatologist, gastrologist, oncologist etc.) You usually wait for weeks, if not months. In some countries for some experts Ypu have to wait a few years (In Poland f.e.). So You either end up in a public hospital (in a very severe state) or just go to private specialists. That is how it works in many european countries.

I really appreciate the stats and Data that you and others puts together for us daily but I find some analysis really poor and quite childish. The whole notion of predictable market cycles based around inflation adjustments is laughable. The price of Bitcoin is far more closely correlated with the Dow Index and broader macro economics. We have 19.6 million BTC already in circulation with a highly liquid market of 24 hour buyers and sellers. Only the miners care if 900 or 450 new coins are coming out each day, everyone else just trades the millions already circulating. Take any kind of analysis based on "Past Cycles" with a kilo of salt....managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Renee Gilman, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

Been in Portugal for two years and does not speak the language... brazilian boyfriend and speaks english with him... friends speak english with her... someone is having serious effort problems... in no country people are as receptive to foreigners and in no country people adapt as much to people from abroad, but this kind of lack of effort is almost insulting. If she does not speak the language it is not because of lack of oportunities. Someone seriously needs to change habits, I would say. If it was in Spain or France people would outright refuse to speak english, even if they know the language. Only proves that being nice does not help nice people.

A couple of points that are worth noting is that the transfer tax in Spain is on average quite a bit higher than the (IMT) "transfer tax" in Portugal. In addition, many larger areas in Spain have high yearly taxes associated with the city where you own your property as well as the region or county. For example my wife and I bought a place in Portugal for about 50k more than a property my friend ahd I had bought together in Spain and we paid about 7k more on the cheaper property in Spain in regards to the taxes associated with the purchase including the transfer tax.

Property is Spain is a lot cheaper. Spanish people can be friendly if you speak their language. I lived in both countries. Spain wins, hands down. Honestly; I believe the real reason why most Americans perfer Portugal is because they don't want to learn Portuguese. In Spain, unless you live in Marbella or around Alicante, you must learn Spanish.
